Who We Are

Love orchids? Want to grow orchids in New York City? We'd love to meet you!

The MOS, Inc. is a non-profit, educational organization formed with the aim of promoting the knowledge and cultivation of orchids.

MOS is run solely by volunteer effort. Members range from people just starting out with their hobby, to people with years of experience, and others with a professional interest. Monthly meetings and newsletters are the forums for the sharing of information and perspectives.

We are affiliated with the American Orchid Society and a member society of the Eastern Orchid Congress and the Joint President's Council.

Where We Meet

The Manhattan Orchid Society meets the second Wednesday of each month, from September through June inclusive. Meetings take place at the
SLC Conference Center
352 7th Avenue, 16th Floor
(between 29 & 30 Sts.)
and usually begin at 6:30 PM and end at 9 PM.

Our meeting gallery has more about what goes on at a typical Society meeting. This includes a Show Table, Supply Table (supplies for sale!), a raffle, a hospitality table, and a guest speaker making a presentation, usually a slide show or workshop. There are also plants for sale from guest vendors.

How To Join

You can print out a copy of our membership form and mail it in along with a check for your dues. Dues are $20 per year, single membership, $25 per year, household.

The MOS membership year runs from September to September, and all memberships expire each fall. However, if you join in the spring, during or after the Greater New York Orchid Show, your membership is good for up to 18 months, until the September of the following year.

You can attend one meeting for free before you decide to join. After you join, please bring your MOS Membership Card to all meetings.

Membership entitles you to: Admission to all general membership meetings, including the annual holiday party • a year's subscription to the MOS Newsletter • voting rights in Board of Directors elections and for other issues as outlined in the Bylaws • household membership entitles two persons to share membership privileges.
